This guide is intended to walk users through the process of setting up Google Authenticator.
- NOTE: Google Authenticator is installed as a Chrome extension for all users, and can also be installed on your phone from the app store.
Login to Identity Provider
- Login to phtech.okta.com
Navigate to Settings
Follow these steps if you are setting up a secondary security method.
- Click your name at the top of the page, and then click Settings.
- Select Edit Profile
- Login with your password and existing MFA
Setup Security Method: Google Authenticator
- Scroll down to Security Methods > Google Authenticator, and select Set up.
Set up Google Authenticator
From a Personal Device
- If you don't already have it, search the app store and download "Google Authenticator" to your device.
- Follow the prompts to complete the setup.
From the Google Chrome Browser Extension
- From within Google Chrome, click the Authenticator extension icon located in the top right (looks like a small QR code).
- Click the pencil icon.
- Click the + sign.
- Click Scan QR Code
- Click and drag your mouse to make a window encompassing the QR code
- You should receive a confirmation at the top. Click OK
- Follow the Okta prompts to complete setup of Google Authenticator
