Use this guide to enable browser notifications for Slack in Chrome.
Enable Notifications
- The first time you log into Slack or after clearing your cache, you will most like see this message at the bottom of your Chrome window:
- Slack needs your permission to enable desktop notifications.
- Click the link on the bottom that says "enable desktop notifications."
- Next, on the pop up, click "enable" and "allow."
- If that was successful, you will see a notification preview in the bottom right corner of Chrome.
Are You Still Not Seeing Notifications?
Verify notifications are enabled in Chrome
- Click the "Site Information" button in the web address bar:
- Ensure that "Notifications" are turned on.
- Reload your browser window, if necessary.
Verify notifications are enabled in your Preferences
- Click your profile icon in the lower-left corner.
- Select Preferences.
- Under Notifications, ensure all options are set correctly.
Still Not Seeing Notifications?
- Click the 3 dots in the upper-right of Chrome.
- Select Settings.
- In search bar at the top, type: notifications.
- Click Site settings.
- Under Permissions, click Notifications.
- Under Default behavior, ensure Sites can ask to send notifications is selected.
- Under Allowed to send notifications, click Add.
- Enter app.slack.com.
- Click Add.
- Go back to your Slack tab and refresh it.
