Security Awareness - April 2025
Hello Ayin Team,
Disposing of Your Mobile Device
Mobile devices, like smartphones and tablets, hold a wealth of sensitive data. If you’re planning to replace or dispose of your device, it’s crucial to wipe it securely to protect your information.
Sensitive Data to Consider
Mobile devices often contain:
- Contact details for family, friends, and coworkers.
- Call logs, texts, and chat sessions.
- Photos, videos, audio recordings.
- Saved passwords, financial, and health information.
Steps to Securely Erase Your Device
Before disposal—whether donating, selling, or recycling—be sure to back up your data. Then, reset your device to factory defaults:
- Apple iOS Devices: Settings > General > Transfer or Reset > Erase All Content and Settings.
- Android Devices: Settings > System > Reset Options > Erase All Data.
SIM & SD Cards
If your device has a physical SIM card, destroy it if it’s no longer needed. For Android devices with SD cards, remove and reuse or destroy them.
Need Assistance?
If you need help, visit the store where you bought your device. Consider donating old devices to charitable organizations or using drop-off recycling bins at mobile provider stores.
Thank you for your attention,
