Employees should use this guide to manage or discontinue email forwarding for former employees.
Manage "Groups I Own"
- Navigate to https://myaccount.microsoft.com/groups/groups-i-own
- Select the ex-employee email group you want to manage.
Add Additional Email Recipients
- Add the recipient as both a member and an owner.
Note: Adding someone as an owner only will not allow them to receive forwarded email.
Discontinue Email Forwarding
Group owners can stop email forwarding at any time:
- From the group details tab, select Delete
Note: This will delete the forwarding group and stop email forwarding for all members.
Leave the Email Forwarding Group
Only leave the group if:
- You no longer need to receive emails.
- You have assigned another member to continue receiving emails.
Important: If you leave the group and no members remain, emails sent to the ex-employee will still be delivered - but not forwarded - leading to missed messages and confusion.
- From the group details tab, select Leave
